PS5 has Discord voice chat via update beta. PlayStation 5 testers in the US, Canada and Japan can join Discord.
The PS5 integrated Discord voice chat a bit in early 2022. A few months later, Microsoft introduced a similar feature on the Xbox console.
The PlayStation 5 also gets Variable Refresh Rate support for 1440p, along with improved dashboard UX. However, the integration of disputes is a bit clunky.
Here’s how to set up and use Discord voice chat on PlayStation 5:
- Link your PlayStation Network or PSN account to Discord, then select it Discord under Linked Services
- After that, complete the integration using the QR code or browser integrated PlayStation 5
- Every time you want to use Discord chat on console, you must use a mobile device to transfer the conversation
For your information, in November 2022, Microsoft made it possible for players to join Discord voice chats directly from the Xbox console.
Sony is expected to do the same in the final PlayStation 5 update. Other new social features include a new way for you to share your screen.
There’s also chat on the dashboard and hints of friends who are playing game. Sony also introduced Variable Refresh Rate support for 1440p games.
Thus, an HDMI 2.1 display should exhibit smoother performance with less distraction. Need proof to check it.
Sony launched the PS5 VRR in April last year and 1440p support was not long in coming. However, the two new features are not integrated with each other.
Gamer will also find a new tool to access data stored on PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5. There is also the ability to transfer game.
This ability can be done from one PS5 console to another via WiFi or ethernet. A new beta launched for certified testers today.
The PlayStation 5 beta update including Discord voice chat will be available to everyone around the world in the next few months.
Sony will make an announcement regarding this ahead of implementation update PlayStation 5 beta for players in all countries. [SN/HBS]
